Castello del Terricio Tassinaia 2006

An equal blend Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from sandy and stony  soils benefiting from the moderate climate of Bolgheri. Castello del Terricio wines are  made by famous consultant oenologist Carlo Ferrini and Tassinaia a modest super Tuscan that can age for a long time.  You can get for around $30 instead of more than $100 for the famous big brother Lupicaia.

Gorgeous nose. Aromas of ripe cassis, brown sugar with hints of gauloises cigarrete tobacco and prunes in conserve. In addition, lovely notes of graphite. In the mouth, full body. Silky on the mid palate with complex retronasal flavors that bring to mind green pepper jelly, cocoa with caramelized coffee bean. Long and harmonious in the mouth. A Supertuscan that stand the test of time and it still has some mileage left. 95\100
